Why Calming Concepts

Massage Clinic

We Take a Whole-Body Approach to Healing

Your body isn’t one-size-fits-all, and your massage shouldn’t be either. We combine advanced and traditional massage techniques with a whole-body, intuitive approach—listening to your words and your body to create a personalised treatment every time.

From chronic tension and stress to emotional overwhelm and touch deprivation, we’re here to help you feel seen, supported, and restored.

We’re not here to fix you.

We’re here to hold space for your healing—on your terms.

This isn’t just a treatment.

It’s your reminder that you matter, too.

Calming Concepts is an escape from the daily chaos. There’s no pressure to perform. No awkwardness.

Just a space where you can chat, cry, vent—or bliss out in complete silence.

It’s totally your choice.

Whether you’re a busy parent, a shift worker, or just someone who’s always “on,” we get how hard it is to make time for yourself.

That’s why we offer flexible appointments: Weekday sessions while the kids are at school, After-hours availability until late, Saturday spots for your convenience.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you have experience working with pain, stress, anxiety, or specific conditions?

Yes — We work with a lot of clients managing burnout, stress, chronic tension, pregnancy aches, emotional overwhelm, and general “I haven’t stopped in months” energy. Our clients see us for a range of health conditions such as Frozen Shoulder, CRPS, Arthritis, Disc Bulges, Rotator Cuff Injury etc.

We're not here to crack you like celery; our goal is to help your body unwind, release tension, and reset your nervous system in a way that feels safe and effective. We are trauma informed and respect your preference for bring a bit chatty in your treatment or requesting sacred silence during your massage. You don’t need to be “in a bad way” to book a massage — prevention is the real magic. We will work with you to create an amazing one-off service or design a treatment plan to help you get your self-care back on track.

What types of massage do you offer and which one is right for me?

At Calming Concepts, we offer a little bit of everything that your nervous system secretly wishes you’d prioritise: Perfect Pressure relaxation massage, Remedial Massage, Ka Huna (the “my body forgot how to breathe but now remembers” style), Pregnancy Massage, Lymphatic Drainage (MLD), Couples Massage, Hot Stone Massage, Botanical Facials, Vibro-Acoustic Therapy (VAT) - like a musical meditation that retunes and revitalises, as well as deluxe pampering upgrades such as Body Scrubs, Hair Masques and Body Brushing.

If you’re not sure what you need, honestly? You don’t have to know. Book the time you want, tell us what’s going on in your body/life, and we'll tailor a treatment on the spot. Zero guesswork, maximum melt.

How do I book an appointment and how far in advance should I book?

Booking is easy — just click the “Book Now” button and choose the day and time that suits you. Choose the maximum time you would like and any upgrades or add-ons to include in that time, we can take care of the rest!

We can get booked out very quickly especially evenings and Saturdays, but if you're lucky - every now and again we have a same-day booking! All our available times are live on our online calendar. If you can't find a spot, try shortening the time you have selected (i.e 90mins down to 60mins)

Be kind to future-you and book your next couple of appointments in advance with our Calm Club. Nothing says “I’ve got my life together” like pre-scheduled self-care.

Do you offer couples massage and how does it work?

Yes! Couples' sessions are our jam! You have two options for couples' treatments:

Side-by Side with Two Therapists, this is dependent on availability and we do recommend booking in advance, especially for weekend appointments.

Or Consecutively with One Therapist combined with our advanced musical meditation during your visit.

Couples's Massage is perfect for partners who're feeling a little disconnected, touched-out from caring for others, or stuck in the “life is busy and romance is optional” phase. You’ll walk out calmer, softer, and closer — and with a shared memory that doesn’t involve groceries, kids, or Netflix.

If you want to learn to massage your partner, check out the Couples Craving Connection Events and Retreat… it’s a whole other level of reconnection.

Do you offer pregnancy massage and is it safe?

Absolutely. Pregnancy massage is one of our specialties, and yes — it’s completely safe when done correctly. We use as specially designed treatment table with a supportive structure underneath to hold your belly safely, as well as cushioning systems, bolsters, side-lying techniques, and a stack of pillows to help you lay comfortably all throughout your massage. We will read your body along the way; however we encourage you to speak up if you require and adjustment to the pressure or your positioning to keep you comfortable and supported at every stage.

If you’re growing a human, you deserve this level of care. And trust me, your hips and lower back will love you for it.

What should I expect during my first massage session?

Organise your calendar to arrive 10-15 minutes early to find a car space and make your way into our treatment space. You will receive a confirmation email including a link to complete a health questionnaire. If you are booking a couples or group booking, please ensure all guests have completed this form.

When you arrive, we’ll chat briefly about what you need, the areas you want focussed on, the pressure you prefer, and what you absolutely do not want (I’m looking at you, people who hate their feet being touched). You’ll always be draped comfortably, your privacy respected, and your preferences followed.

Your only job is to breathe, let go, and surrender the mental load for a while.

What should I wear and do I need to bring anything?

Wear whatever makes you comfortable. Sundress on your day off? Sure! Business Suit after work? That's fine too. PJ's for an evening appointment? RIGHT ON! We have hangers and baskets to put your things while you enjoy your treatment. You’ll undress to your level of comfort and always stay draped respectfully for both the client and the professionalism of the practitioner.

Please note: our linens are replaced for each client and we are used to doing a fair bit of washing at the end of the day, but please try to make it easier for us by not applying fake tan, gradual tans or tinted moisturisers to your body, ensure you have showered and are not wearing perfume or makeup to your appointment. If you are, please help us out by using the personal wipes provided to remove as much as you can before you lay on the table.

Our building has bathrooms and showers, should you need to refresh before your appointment. Please ensure you allow adequate time for this so you aren't late for your appointment.

You don’t need to bring anything except yourself — we've got everything else covered.

Bonus: come hydrated. Your body will thank you later.

Where are you located and is parking available?

Calming Concepts is currently located at 12 Emily Court, Deception Bay, however we are moving to Suite 5 of 5-7 Discovery Drive, North Lakes from 1st December. There’s convenient signed parking right outside, but please organise your day so that you arrive 10-15 minutes early, to avoid doing laps of the street and arriving already stressed. We are located on level one, there are stairs and lift access, as well as toilet and shower facilities. Our suite is all the way down the hallway on the right. Once you walk through our door, it’s a whole different world — soft music, warm lighting, and the kind of peace you wish you could bottle.

TIP: we have three allocated car spaces, however if they are all full you can lap the block and look for street parking (or find a cheeky spot in the fast food places next door).

What is your cancellation or rescheduling policy?

Life happens — We get it. But late cancellations mean someone else misses out on the spot they probably really needed and our staff are unable to make a livable wage.

We require 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule your booking. Less than that and a $29 fee applies. This keeps things fair for everyone and helps us keep sessions running smoothly. If you’re unsure you’ll make it, reschedule early — no guilt, no awkwardness, just good communication. To change your booking, follow the links in your confirmation email or call 0413 298 930.
